I think at one point there was an anime club at the Fayetteville Free Library, but a quick search of their site turned up nothing. Perhaps the person who was running the club is no longer there. If I get a chance, I will stop by and see the status of the club and see if they would be interested in getting it up and running again. I run an afterschool club at the school I work at, so I am familiar with many of the titles that are more student friendly, though they can be hard to come by. I generally warn parents that there may be an occasional he*l or da*m and I usually use Naruto as my benchmark. If parents are okay with their child watching that, then I feel comfortable showing anime that contains a similar amount of violence, language, and risque images.

I’ll pass your comment along to the rest of the team, Chuck. There does seem to be a demand for a junior group, but we’re stretched pretty thin with the events we do so far. I don’t know if we could manage another group, though if an independent one formed we’d love to link to them and direct people their way when appropriate.

From the comments here it sounds like there is a big demand for a “junior” group of CNY anime/manga fans. Perhaps this club would be willing to sponsor an affiliate group for “tweens” (maybe 7-14yrs) where they could provide some mentoring or advice to these future adult members. If the leaders are willing to help such a junior group, please indicate so. If that option does not interest the leaders of this club then please say that as well. Perhaps if an independant club was formed for the under 15 crowd, this club website would be willing to at least provide a reference link to a an alternate website for a kids anime/manga club in CNY? (I could help setup a website if there are other adults willing to help organize a club for their kids)

Unfortunately, we do not have any shops in the central NY area that I am aware of that caters specifically to anime fans. There are places to buy anime and mange, but not a lot of other anime themed merchandise. If you are looking for a place to buy generic accessories to go with a costume, you can try Dougherty’s Masquerade on Erie Blvd. Some of the vendors at our events may carry cosplay items. If you are looking to get your costume ready before an event, I suggest looking on the internet at places like rightstuf.com, jlist.com, or ebay.

Hi. I have a daughter who’s twelve and had a big addiction to anime. Is she allowed to come? I don’t mind is she watches anything gory or with a little cleavage and stuff, but no sex (which on the FAQ it says no hentai, which makes me relieved.) She told me to write that she’s watched… Higurashi no naku koro na? ni? I don’t know… and then something called Chobits. I suppose she wants to prove that she’s mature enough, and I believe she is. Is she still allowed to go, despite her age? Please answer, she’s really anxious to find out… Plus I don’t think she wants to wait three years XD;
