To answer some questions you might have about current and future “Big Screen” events -
When will events take place?
Our tentative schedule so far is to hold these “mini-conventions” during the seasons we don’t have the Anime Syracuse Festival (namely summer, autumn and winter). We are also working to co-host events with other clubs and possibly sponsor some other special events as well, so additional dates may be announced during the year.
Our 2009-2010 schedule:
Summer – Friday, August 21, 2009 (CLAMP 20th Anniversary)
Autumn – Sunday, October 18, 2009 (Scary Stories)
Winter – Saturday, February 20, 2010 (Laugh Out Loud)
What will be screened at future events?
Screenings will generally be centered around a particular theme in order to serve different groups within the fandom. One event may feature “old-school” anime, another might feature new debut releases, and others might be a mix. Or a mini-con may be restricted to audiences 21 years and older, while another event may be all family fare. We will announce specific dates and themes/titles once they are confirmed. Please keep checking here and our News for more information.
Will there be vendors/artists at the screenings?
We do have some space available for a few vendors and artists. If you are interested in reserving a table, please contact us at AnimeSyracuse@gmail.com.
Will there be guests at the screenings?
We can’t make any promises, but we are doing our best to see what we can do…
Can I cosplay?
Yes – we only ask that you be considerate and that your cosplay not be so elaborate that it would block the view of other audience members. This is an event centered around watching anime after all! However, there may or may not be a cosplay contest – check the details of the specific event.
Will advance sale tickets be available?
Yes – tickets will be available online and through affiliates. A complete list of locations will be announced well in advance of the screening date.
Is there a special hotel rate for out-of-towners?
Not presently. If you’re planning on coming from outside Syracuse and are looking for hotel accommodations, please let us know. If there is enough interest we can try and get you all a special room rate.
Can I request/suggest certain titles to be shown?
We are eager to know what people want to see in order to design events that will better serve the local fandom. To receive a copy of our survey, please e-mail AnimeSyracuse@gmail.com. We will do our best to legally obtain and show the most requested titles; please do remember that some titles simply aren’t available from distributors for screening at this time.
OK, have to ask – dubs or subs?
It will likely be a mix of both.
I want to get involved- how can I help out?
We can always use more help – please contact AnimeSyracuse@gmail.com to volunteer and/or attend our next Club meeting.
