Anime Syracuse’s 2011 Summer mini-convention!
Join us for two days of mini-convention fun at two convenient locations! Our theme is summer vacations in anime, and we’ve got a ton of fun things planned. And best of all it’s FREE admission to both events!
Day One will be at the Fay Road Baptist Church from 11 am to 7 pm. Outside under tents and on the lawn, we’ll be setting up fun Japanese festival type games to play. All those fun games you’ve seen in festival episodes? Now you’ll get a chance to play them! Win a water yo-yo, see if you can catch a fish in the goldfish scoop, try your hand at Ramune Ring toss, decorating a mask or making origami. You’ll be able to win some great prizes including traditional Japanese toys, festival prizes, Anime Syracuse gear and anime figures. Bring some cash to buy some food (we’ll be cooking out!), game tickets, and shop our vendors. And when you’re done playing games go inside to watch some anime or talk with Tristan McAvery, the original voice of Gendo Ikari from Neon Evangelion!
Day Two we’ll be back at the Palace Theater in Eastwood from 2 to midnight for another LONG day of anime screenings and fun! Free admission into the theater for some really special titles on the big screen and even more games and summer fun. Learn to play traditional games like hanafuda, participate in our cosplay or coloring contests.
Both days will be jam packed with fun things to do, and the proceeds from the games and food will go to help Anime Syracuse fund our big bash in September, and a portion will go to aid the Tsunami relief efforts in Japan! Come out and have some fun and tell all your friends!

They should have another mini-con in 2012 summer.
My friend and I will be doing commissions on Sunday. Our table is called Demiku and we are making custom buttons and we will do regular commissions as well.
The fish in the goldfish scoop are fake, and you get tickets (which can be redeemed for prizes) for each fish you catch. We set it up in my backyard to test it out this past weekend, and it’s a lot of fun!
I want to do the goldfish scoop just to see if I can do it…. But do I have to keep the goldfish? I don’t think that would be a good Idea… I hope someone will be doing commissions there because I love getting other people to draw mt OCs.
Not canceled, postponed! More info on this really soon!
They siad the mini con was cancled
it says vendors AND artists, what does one have to do to sell as an artist?

Ooo, i’m going to try to come kind of later. I didn’t even know Syracuse had anything like this! Will you add me to your mailing list?
Are fake guns allowed? I’d love to cosplay as madlax but I worry that people might mistake a fake or cap gun with a real one. XD
haha Me and a few friends are randomly dressing up as pirates XP
Anime+Big Screen= Awesome.
Have you decided what’s playing this weekend? Lucky Star episode 2 or higher would be fun to see on big screen. An episode of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann would also be sweet to watch.
haha!! i cant waite to go!!! I’m going as L from Death Note!! I cant waite to see everyone!!
I wanna be an Artist, anyone want me theer?

At the upcoming con, I’ll be cosplaying a singer.
And I had the awesome idea- Why not sing for everyone there?
HOWEVER
I wanted to ask beforehand because I don’t want to end up disturbing the anime watchers. I’d probably doing it in the front lobby, so… And it won’t be for a long time, plus I’d be taking breaks and such.
Would I be able to sing in the front lobby? I won’t be using a mic or anything, of course XD
crap muffins….it on my birthday…crap crap crap… i think ill still be able to make i though… *crosses fingers*
Feel free to suggest titles in the forums or to AnimeSyracuse@gmail.com
Since the next Anime on the Big Screen will be coming up in February, I’d really like to know-

This looks like it will be the start of a fun two days of anime. I think I’ll try cosplaying as Luxord from Kingdom Hearts 2, just to try it out.
Glad you had such a great time and congratulations on you wins at the auction! We’re still working on picking a theme for the Winter “Big Screen” event – since it’s going to be in February it may be some sort of romantic theme. But then maybe not – we’ll post it on the website as soon as we decide!

Glad to have you Marcuss! The best thing about anime crowds is there is always someone who’s eager to talk. I’ve met a lot of good friends that way. ^_^
